Cypress Cellphone Thief Ends Up Making Off with Only a Bullet

Cypress Texas DGU

On Sunday night in Cypress, Texas, a suburb of Houston an attempted robbery was thwarted by a Texas citizen and his handgun.

Harris County police were called to the scene at the 23900 block of Creek Ridge Drive after multiple calls that residents had heard gunshots in the area.

Those gunshots were from the firearm of a man who’s name is not being released at this point, who was meeting with Derek Cooper and an unidentified minor under the guise of a cell phone for money transaction.

When the unidentified man met with Cooper it was quickly understood that there would be no deal as Cooper’s juvenile partner produced a gun and pointed it at the man. At that point, Cooper and the juvenile robbed the man of his cellphone. After that, the unidentified man was ordered to take the two thieves to his car and give them anything of value from inside but they did not know about what might now be the most valuable item this man owns.

As the three made their way to the car, the car’s owner reached into his vehicle and produced a firearm. He then let out two rounds from the handgun which both struck Derek Cooper. The juvenile fled the scene.

After authorities arrived on the scene, they sent Derek Cooper to the hospital for his wounds and will be placed into custody following his stay.

As for the juvenile, he ran off after the shooting but quickly was caught by authorities.

There have been no charges filed against the shooter as of the time of writing this article.
