COVID Concerns Kill 2021 NRA Annual Meetings
For the second year in a row, the NRA will not hold an annual meeting. Yesterday, the NRA announced they had canceled the 2021 Annual Meetings scheduled for September 3rd through 5th.
NRA Annual Meeting Canceled
The cancellation marked a setback from the idea that the country is “returning to normal.”
Also, this year marked the NRA’s 150th year in existence. For each year, except the last two, the organization has held annual meetings. So the organization’s 150th anniversary is something to celebrate even with the organization’s recent mismanagement and troubles.
However, growing concerns over a new variant of the Wuhan China coronavirus led big gun manufacturers to pull out of the event. Reports indicated back on August 21st that Benelli USA, Browning, FN Herstal, Kimber Manufacturing, Savage Arms, Smith & Wesson, Springfield Armory, Sig Sauer, and Sturm, Ruger & Company were all backing out.
Once the big names canceled, the event was essentially dead. It just took three days for the NRA to make an official announcement.
Hopefully, the announcement comes in time for those traveling to the event to cancel flight or hotel reservations.
The NRA made a point to mention that they look forward to the Celebration of Freedom in Louisville in May 2022.
This post updates the June 2nd post announcing the Annual Meeting Dates.
