About the Texas Handgun Course:

The TEXAS SELF-DEFENSE SHOOTING AND HANDGUN FUNDAMENTALS COURSE is a foundational training course for anyone considering owning or carrying a firearm for self-defense, or for individuals who simply want to learn more about handguns.  Owning and using a handgun is a right, a privilege, and most of all, an incredible responsibility. If you are going to own a gun, carry a gun, or rely on one as a means of personal defense, it is imperative that you are trained and competent in the safe and effective use of such a tool.

This course uses curriculum developed by renowned Firearms Trainer and USCCA Vice President, Michael Martin.

• Recommended for: Beginner or Intermediate
• Prerequisites: None
• Number of students: 12-15
• Class Length: 3.5 – 4.0 hrs classroom (only)
• Location: Classes held in Ovilla, TX. Contact us to schedule a private class at your location.

• Optional Textbook: You may purchase your copy of Michael Martin’s 200+ page textbook, Concealed Carry and Home Defense Fundamentals – for an additional $25. This is an invaluable resource for your home defense training and planning.

Class Modules Include:

• Self-Defense Firearm Basics: Safety, cleaning and maintenance, types of handguns, malfunctions, ballistics, home defense shotguns, AR-15 platform, and less lethal weapons.
• Defensive Shooting Fundamentals: Muscle memory, grip, stance, point vs sight shooting, sight picture, and trigger control.
• Gear and Gadgets: holsters, gelts, lights, lasers, and more.
• Basic and Advanced Skills: Dry fire exercises, self-led and instructor-led range exercises, and ongoing training.
• BONUS: Virtual Range: Practice what you have learned with our state-of-the-art laser training range. Learn at-home techniques that are safe and fun. Gain confidene in your skills.

No live ammunition is permitted in the classroom and there is no Firing Range practice at the end of the course.

Where is the Class?

The classroom section will be held at our location in Ovilla Texas about 25 minutes south of Downtown Dallas off of I-35E. The exact address is provided to students immediately following your online registration. The Live Fire exam is conducted at a nearby range and you will need to bring a $10 range fee. Please note we do NOT accept walk-ins. You MUST Pre-Register.
